The Finnish Supreme Administrative Court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by HECKLER & KOCH against the Finnish and Swedish procurement of firearms from Sako Oy, citing an EU exemption clause regarding national security, reports NORDIC DEFENSE SECTOR. This means the agreement can now be implemented.

The Finnish Supreme Administrative Court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by the German firearms manufacturer HECKLER & KOCH, thereby upholding the Finnish government’s position regarding the procurement of new firearms from Sako Oy. The court cited an exception in EU law that allows procurement rules to be bypassed when necessary to protect essential security interests.
