The US Army is introducing the M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDMR), based on the HK417/G28 with modifications including a new scope and attachments from 12 manufacturers. The rifle will feature a different stock, barrel, and twist rate, with the SIG Sauer Tango 6 scope. More details are yet to be disclosed.
The US Army wants new rifles for its precision riflemen in the squads, the catchy name for it should be M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDMR). This is an HK417/G28 in caliber 7.62 x 51 mm with some minor modifications. These modifications include mainly the scope with its mounting and some attachments from a total of 12 manufacturers.
The basis for the SDMR is the Heckler & Koch G28E-110. It will definitely have a different stock and barrel with a different twist rate. The scope used will be the SIG Sauer Tango 6. Unfortunately, we couldn't find out more about the additional attachments.
