At the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville (more at Soldier Systems Daily), there are of course some treasures to be found when it comes to military and gear history. And here we have unearthed one of these treasures, it is the great-grandfather of all the multipurpose and lightweight chestrigs in use today. This model was already worn in Mogadishu in 1993 and was probably sewn by the unit's saddler or rigger. Paul Howe then developed it consistently together with Eagle Industries, and the Eagle Universal Chestrig was born.
This system is a true classic and still influences leading manufacturers of tactical nylon equipment today, such as Mayflower, LBT, and AWS.
In fact, this model was so popular that after Eagle Industries discontinued production, it was reissued by SKD Tactical.
