HENSOLDT receives follow-up order from L3Harris for high-performance electronics for NATO data links. Contract includes production and delivery of 100 power amplifiers for MIDS program. HENSOLDT's expertise validated with 10th consecutive order. A critical component for Link-16 communication system to ensure interoperability and cross-branch missions.
The sensor solution provider HENSOLDT has received a follow-up order from the American L3Harris (formerly Viasat) for the delivery of high-performance electronics to optimize NATO data links and the networking of individual troop units. The contract, worth a high single-digit million amount, includes the production and delivery of another 100 power amplifiers for the MIDS LVT (Multifunctional Information Distribution System, Low Volume Terminal) data radio system of the US and European NATO forces of all branches. Since the first order in 2003, HENSOLDT has delivered approximately 4,500 power amplifiers for the MIDS program.
"The Power Amplifiers are among the performance-determining components of every data link," says Thomas Altwasser, Program Manager at HENSOLDT. "This tenth consecutive order is a confirmation of our reliability as well as our technological competence in this sensitive area."
MIDS is a Link-16 communication system with high-performance and jam-resistant digital connections for the exchange of tactical information (data and voice) between aircraft, ships, and ground stations of NATO. MIDS ensures interoperability and enables cross-branch missions. The power amplifier must provide high transmission power in a small footprint and at the same time ensure the highest possible reception sensitivity. HENSOLDT also supplies similar electronic components to the European EuroMIDS consortium consisting of INDRA, Leonardo, Thales, and HENSOLDT.
