With over 1,400 units built, Rheinmetall's 6x6 armored transport vehicle Fuchs is one of the most experienced tactical wheeled vehicles worldwide. Armed forces of numerous nations use the Fuchs in various configurations, such as for protected personnel transport, as a command post or ambulance, and for mobile NBC reconnaissance.

The NBC reconnaissance variant has been successfully deployed for threat prevention in many crisis areas worldwide. The nearly 300 ABC-Spürfuchs vehicles produced so far have proven themselves in the Bundeswehr, the US Army, as well as the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates, Britain, Kuwait, the Netherlands, and Norway. The centerpiece of the "ABC-Spürfuchs" is an extensive, fully integrated equipment package for the identification and analysis of nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare agents.

The Bundeswehr has been using the armored transport vehicle 1 Fuchs - or "TPz" for short - since 1979 in a variety of configurations and relies on its robustness and reliability for its foreign missions in Afghanistan and Mali, among others. The currently most advanced version introduced in the Bundeswehr, TPz 1 A8, provides significantly improved protection against ballistic threats as well as against mines and improvised explosive devices compared to older models. Key modifications of the TPz 1 A8 include structural changes to the hull, new axles, reinforcements of wheel wells, doors, and window mounts, as well as additional storage compartments and reinforcements in the exterior. By the end of 2020, Rheinmetall will upgrade a total of 272 Bundeswehr Fuchs vehicles to the current 1A8 standard. HERE you can find all information about Fuchs directly from the Bundeswehr.

In addition, Rheinmetall has already developed the next more modern version, which is characterized by a new engine, a new transfer case, a new braking system, an improved steering system, and a monitor and camera vision system. This makes the TPz 1 Fuchs even more agile off-road and more ergonomic to operate.

With a fleet availability of over 90 percent, the TPz 1 Fuchs stands out as a guarantee of reliability in operations like hardly any other vehicle system, making it one of the most popular vehicle systems in the Bundeswehr.

The Fuchs 2, an export variant derived from the TPz 1 Fuchs, is an evolution and features an enlarged interior, a more powerful engine, a modernized chassis, and digital vehicle electronics, among other upgrades. The Fuchs 2 is used by countries including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and another customer in the MENA region.

Its high popularity among a broad international user base and the consequent continuous product maintenance and further development make it possible to keep the Fuchs in use well beyond the year 2035. Learn more about armored wheeled vehicles from Rheinmetall.
