Gun for the British?

The Glock 17 is gaining attention in the British Army, with speculation that it may become the new service pistol. The Guardian deleted its related article, while US sites report on the potential switch. The BBC appears to confirm the news, raising questions about the specific variant chosen for UK evaluation.

There is currently a lot of attention (or rather, suspiciously little attention in the UK) surrounding the Glock in the British Army. The Guardian has deleted its related article, while on some US sites it is already being reported that the Glock 17 will be the new service pistol for the British. If the decision has really been made, then we are curious to see whether they have opted for the special variant produced specifically for the UK evaluation with a thumb safety (pictured above) or not.

/Edit: BBC seems to confirm the news.
