That's how total war works. HAENEL has not only reached the peak, namely winning the tender for the next assault rifle of the Bundeswehr, but is now also going through a deep valley. According to the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, Haenel has violated Heckler & Koch's patent rights. Now the company can claim damages.
And not only that: HAENEL GmbH is obliged to destroy all rifles still in its possession, to ask its commercial customers to return already delivered rifles against payment of compensation, and to provide the plaintiff with information on the profit made from the previous sale of the rifles. In plain language: HAENEL lost to HECKLER & KOCH in procurement with the MK556, and now the civilian derivative of the weapon, the semi-automatic CR223, must also be completely removed from circulation and destroyed. The CR223 is also used as a German police weapon in Saxony and Hamburg. Ultimately, due to the sales figures of the civilian weapon - private buyers/consumers are not affected by the "recall" - HK can claim damages.HERE is the press release from the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf on the subject.
