There are special units that are so special that after a certain time, one probably does not want to be reminded that they existed. This is what happened in the US Army, as revealed today, that now a movie is coming out that tells the story of the men who served in the First Earth Battalion: "The Men Who Stare At Goats". The gaze at the goats was supposed to overwhelm them with paranormal PSI powers, a psychedelic wonder weapon. The film convincingly answers the question: Why shouldn't an army fall for esoterism if an entire society does. The basis for the film is a book by journalist Jon Ronson. The German translation of the book has the weak title: "Through the Wall: The US Army, absurd experiments, and the war on terror." If you think all of this is made up, you're mistaken. Even though it is now being turned into a comedy, here is the original Field Manual of the First Earth Battalion. Perhaps this is a challenge for true reenactors?
For inspiration: The trailer for the film, which is currently running in the USA, can be found here. By the way, the man staring in the picture above is George Clooney.
