Gear made in Italy: FROG.PRO in the interview

Some people like their "Gucci Gear". Highest quality and prices that must not be too low. FROG.PRO is an equipment manufacturer from Italy and produces something that we would call "Armani Gear". Also of high quality, with a very special style. We interviewed Fabio Casali, the founder and owner of FROG.PRO.

SPARTANAT: Fabio, FROG.PRO comes from Italy. What kind of equipment do you produce?

FROG.PRO: We produce high-end equipment for military, security forces, and outdoor. FROG.PRO products are made from the best high-tech materials and fabrics available. A large part of it comes directly from the USA, which is a leader in military equipment innovation, and they all meet the American MIL-SPEC requirements. By paying special attention to design, we can place hidden seams under a second layer of fabric. All stress points are sewn with the highest attention. The way we work, we are certainly not the cheapest, but every piece of equipment that leaves our workshop is further evidence that our company provides the best gear that money can buy.

SPARTANAT: Why FROG.PRO? What is the "Frog" in your company name?

FROG.PRO: I have always loved frogs. They are harmless little creatures, but some can produce extreme toxins through their skin. They also have a very pretty surface, sometimes bright red or yellow, with different camouflage patterns. They are amphibious, which is surely the reason why they serve as a symbol for certain special forces. We have a long tradition with special units, and so our name is a kind of reference and also pays homage to the special forces.

SPARTANAT: Since when have you been producing equipment?

FROG.PRO: The FROG.PRO brand actually emerged in the second half of 2011 to have a name for our individually made products on request, before that the focus on equipment was more of a hobby. FROG.PRO was officially founded as a registered company in May 2013. We have not stopped working on new designs since then.

SPARTANAT: Who wears Gear from FROG.PRO?

FROG.PRO: We work with some development teams of our special forces with almost daily contact to develop and test new products that they need for their specific requirements. For example, last year the special forces of the Italian Air Force - the 17º Stormo Incursori (image above) - chose FROG.PRO because they believed that our equipment corresponds to what they need for operations, for example our LC Hagakure (image at the beginning of the interview) plate carrier. But we not only produce for the military, but also equipment for security contractors (PSC Operators), anti-poaching units in Africa, MilSim players, and people who simply enjoy being outdoors. Therefore, you can find these very different categories of users on our website.

SPARTANAT: You have a very special style. Some say it's "Armani gear." Where does your special sense for design come from?

FROG.PRO: To be honest, I never focused on design specifically. My interests before FROG.PRO were completely different. But I am very ambitious and I have always tried to achieve the best results in both small and large projects. Nevertheless, aesthetic appearance is not a priority when I develop a new product. Functionality and comfort are always the most important. If that is correct, I ultimately dedicate myself to design - sometimes with new materials or those special features that make our products so unique.
