The German special forces and combat divers will soon receive the new H&K 416 A7 assault rifle, designated as the Rifle G95. And this is it, the new assault rifle for the German special forces, commandos, and combat divers. On October 10, the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr commissioned Heckler & Koch from Oberndorf to deliver 1,745 weapons of the type H&K 416 A7 as well as accessories. The Bundeswehr designation is expected to be Rifle G95. It is a gas-operated rifle in caliber 5.56 mm x 45 NATO. The weapon weighs 3690 g and has a barrel length of 14.5″. The G95 rifle is intended to become the new standard rifle for the Special Forces Command and the Special Forces Command of the Navy and is expected to be delivered to the troops from January 2019. Technical testing at the Technical Center for Weapons and Ammunition 91 and tactical testing by the special forces are scheduled to begin as early as November 2017.
