G95: New assault rifle for German special forces

The Bundeswehr designation is expected to be Rifle G95. It is a gas-operated rifle in caliber 5.56 mm x 45 NATO. The weapon weighs 3690 g and has a barrel length of 14.5″. The G95 rifle is intended to become the new standard rifle for the Special Forces Command and the Special Forces Command of the Navy and is expected to be delivered to the troops from January 2019. Technical testing at the Technical Center for Weapons and Ammunition 91 and tactical testing by the special forces are scheduled to begin as early as November 2017.
