REVIEW:

FTCS - PMK 2.0 Aimpoint Micro

09/11/2025By Max

Getting optics onto the AK platform is always a bit of a challenge. From FTCS in Poland, there is perhaps the most elegant and slickest solution we know, the PMK 2.0 Mount. We have tested it intensively on our AKM over the past few months and today we want to tell you what to expect from it.

ftcs_3

The PMK 2.0 Mount is available for various optic footprints. We opted for the model for the AIMPOINT Micro footprint.

The package includes everything needed for the installation.

What stands out immediately is how slim this mount is. We already really like that.

At the front end, there is a ghost ring sight installed. You can still use the PMK 2.0 as iron sights if the red dot unexpectedly fails.

By the way, the red dot fits perfectly on it. In our case, a HOLOSUN 503 R. It is advisable to secure the red dot to the AK before mounting the PMK 2.0.

Mounting on the Weapon

Now let’s get to mounting the PMK 2.0 onto the AK. The most challenging part is removing the rear sight. We recommend using a vice, a wide flat-head screwdriver, and cut-resistant gloves in case the screwdriver slips. You just need to press down on the rear sight from the top and pull it back. There are some YouTube videos about it. It can also be done with a hammer, after all, it’s an AK.

Once the rear sight is free, you just need to remove the leaf spring. It's best to pull this out with a pair of needle-nose pliers if it gets a bit stuck.

For the stable installation of the PMK 2.0, the silver plate must first be inserted from the inside.

Then you place the PMK 2.0 mount and tighten the long screw firmly, but not too tightly yet.

Now you just need to insert the two small screws. Once you are satisfied with the positioning, tighten all the screws. The PMK 2.0 installation is complete.

Contact points marked in orange

The unique feature of the PMK 2.0 mount is that, compared to other mounts of this type, it offers you three contact points instead of just two. This makes it significantly more stable. The first point is the large screw with the silver mounting plate, the second is the two small screws, and the third point is the small console under the rear sight. This bridge rests directly on the housing and makes everything super stable.

In Use

The PMK 2.0 mount sits extremely low on the cover of the AK. However, it can still be opened without any issues. We had no ejection problems, even though the optic is sitting directly above the ejection port.

The rear sight is in the lower third of the optic, making it a “Lower 1/3 mount,” so to speak. Targeting with the rear sight and front post works very well. Unfortunately, it's difficult to photograph well.

We also really like that the optic adds very little bulk. This keeps the AK overall very slick and compact.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a slim, lightweight, and stable mount for a red dot on the AK, the PMK 2.0 is just the right choice. One of the most stable mounts of this type that we have encountered so far.

Available at PMK 2.0 Aimpoint Micro Mount from FTCS at SPECSHOP starting at €128.36
