FROG.PRO: The falcon has landed

At this year's Enforce Tac, we were able to admire the HAWK Plate Carrier from FROG.PRO. Now, the designer and FROG.PRO CEO Fabio Casali shares his thoughts on this top-notch plate carrier with us.

The past years have marked major strides on our endless journey towards innovation. After the revamping of our website and catalogue in 2021, there was still one essential piece missing: a new combat plate carrier that could take the place of our previous models and meet the demands of the modern battlefield.

Years of research and development, supported by the advancement of our machinery and manufacturing techniques that have taken our processing and performance to new heights, eventually led to a product that we can confidently label as a top-class combat plate carrier: the HAWK Plate Carrier.

In developing the HAWK Plate Carrier, we drew from the strengths of its predecessors and evolved them into a new, advanced form.

Like our ergonomic low-profile LC-AWPC Plate Carrier, the HAWK Plate Carrier opens from the top. This choice ensures a snug fit for all models of ballistic plates, and also allows easy access to the front part, enabling the user to work seamlessly with the MOLLE/PALS system in setting up the equipment.

The front is reinforced with Tegris Technopolymer, one of the latest additions to our material range, providing increased durability without adding extra weight. This gives stability to smartphones and NAV-boards, enhancing device usability during transport.

The LC-Hagakure was the protective, armor-like predecessor of our combat plate carriers. We decided to integrate its distinctive shoulder shape into the shoulder pads of the HAWK Carrier to evenly distribute weight on the back area.

Both wings of the shoulder pads are equipped with a MOLLE system, allowing complete attachment of equipment necessary for LPU (Life Preserver Unit or life jacket). It also allows the routing of cables that can exit in any position.

The HAWK Plate Carrier also adopts the comfort level of the LC-Hagakure, provided by the internal padding made of closed-cell foam. Fits like a t-shirt, but protects like armor.

We have attached QR buckles to the shoulders and cummerbund so that putting on and taking off the plate carrier, even with a helmet on, is a quick and easy process. The offset position of the QR buckles on the cummerbund also maximizes space on the front, making it easier to access the side mag pockets.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the HAWK plate carrier is designed to support our new U.LOK Modular Magnetic Attachment System; a new concept of modularity that brings countless benefits. To name just a few: from instant configuration changes to on-site repairability and the ability to mount and dismount plates with the carrier autonomously. A system that comes straight from a new generation.

On every mission, whether it's a military operation or project development, it is essential to know your goal. We had a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve: a combat plate carrier with minimal space requirement to ensure freedom of movement, but also with extreme modularity and capacity to carry the weight of the payload.
