US Army soldiers are being equipped with special wrist sensors from WHOOP to measure daily strain, stress, and sleep. This study aims to understand how extreme conditions affect physical and mental health.
Around 1,000 soldiers of the US Army will receive a special wrist sensor from WHOOP. This sensor is designed to measure daily strain and stress in order to analyze it in a study. The tracker should also be worn at night for sleep analysis. Previous studies have mostly been conducted under laboratory conditions. Now, they are taking it a step further to understand how minimal sunlight, strong winds, and extreme cold affect the soldiers' physical and mental health. The soldiers themselves can also view their data through an app.
