We like it when good products are further improved, like the new FALKE S D-Pol Red Dot. We reviewed the solid predecessor in 2020 HERE. Now the improved version is on the market. We'll tell you what has been improved.
Essentially, it's the same red dot sight that is used by the Thuringia Police, only without the coat of arms lasered onto the device. Otherwise, everything inside and out is the same.
The most noticeable change is the mounting. Moving away from quick mounting to a screw-on mounting system. The mounting is designed so that the iron sights (depending on the weapon type) can still be used.
A subtle improvement has been made in the area of the flip-up covers. During evaluation by the Thuringia Police, it was found that the covers were not easy to flip up with gloves and that the optics were sometimes pressed by the covers. So the "ears" on the covers have been slightly enlarged and the housing has been provided with a groove. Problem identified, problem solved.
There are also improvements inside. One of them is a revision of the power consumption unit. The police noticed that after a few thousand shots on the same brightness setting (without any changes), there could be a darkening of the reticle due to minimal wear and tear. This is no longer possible with the newly designed internals. FALKE tested this with over 50,000 (simulated) shots.
The resistance of the adjustment turret for brightness control has also been adjusted, as it was rated slightly too high by the police. Now it moves a bit easier, but without being too loose.
All in all, the FALKE S has been made even more robust and durable than its predecessor. It's good news for the customers, as the RRP of the FALKE S D-Pol Red Dot Sight is expected to decrease slightly, offering better quality at a lower price.
