Fieldguard-3 directs the fire

07/06/2018By Redaktion

The Düsseldorf-based high-technology group Rheinmetall, through its Swiss subsidiary Rheinmetall Air Defence, has received an order to deliver Fieldguard-3 survey systems to two international customers. Fieldguard is an active fire control system that measures the trajectory of projectiles using special sensors to ensure the most accurate target engagement.

One customer country is expanding its existing capacities with three systems, while another nation, as a new customer, has initially ordered a single system. In this configuration, Rheinmetall is a supplier to the main contractor Avibras from Brazil.

The contract for a total of four systems and related spare parts has a volume of 20 million EUR. The delivery of the systems is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

The program was launched in partnership with the Brazilian Avibras to realize the Multiple Rocket Launcher System ASTROS 2020. The Fieldguard 3 survey system can cover a range of up to 100 kilometers.
