The tank specialist FFG (Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH) is showcasing its vision of a forward-looking upgrade of the Leopard 1 at DSEI for the first time, which is still used in various versions and variants by several armed forces worldwide. The CONDOR is an air defense tank based on the Leopard 1, as seen in the image above. FFG equips the Leo1 with a stronger, lighter, and more efficient drive and adorns it with a remotely operated turret featuring a 30 mm main weapon for air defense. It can also fire programmable airburst ammunition and can be supplemented with various missile systems for tank defense at the customer's request.
The ACSV G5, one of the proprietary developments of the northern German company, is being presented in London for the first time in the "tank mortar" version. This new variant integrates a 120 mm automatic loader mortar system along with a fire control system and subsystems that can be effectively used to provide fire support for infantry.
As the third major exhibit, FFG presents the armored multifunctional vehicle WiSENT 2 – also a proprietary development that is already successfully in use with several armed forces internationally. This is a support platform based on the Leopard 2, which can be configured as a pioneer, recovery, or mine-clearing tank and can be reconfigured in less than 5 hours. The system offers fully integrated equipment with a knuckle boom excavator or crane system, custom plow or mine plow, each with a 40-ton main winch.
Visitors to DSEI can find FFG at stand S8-250, as part of the German joint stand.
