Fireproof?!

Comparing the effectiveness of genuine Nomex pilot suit vs. a Chinese copy in terms of fire-resistance. Original suit resulted in minor burns, while Chinese copy failed to withstand flames. Important lesson on importance of quality in fire-resistant clothing.

Because it's somehow "trendy" to talk about fire-resistant clothing right now. We found something on Soldiersystems.net : a comparison between the genuine Nomex pilot suit and a Chinese copy. But see for yourself.

First the original:

The dummy suffered seven percent burns, which is equivalent to about seven days in the hospital. So actually not too bad.

Now the Chinese copy made of NYCO (60:40)

Yeah, I think we don't need to say anything else about that...

Lesson learned: If you want to be fire-resistant, you're much better off with the original.
