The Prodigy™ by Springfield Armory is a modern take on the classic 1911, featuring a two-piece frame and high-capacity magazines. With over 220 years of experience, Springfield Armory continues to deliver quality firearms, now represented by Ferkinghoff International. Visit their website for more information.
Prodigy™ means "prodigy" in German. This is the name that SPRINGFIELD ARMORY has chosen for its new 1911. Why? Well, because this pistol is a modern interpretation of the popular 1911 models.
Instead of a one-piece steel frame, as known from the famous 1911 pistols, the Prodigy™ features a two-piece frame. The upper slide guide is made of forged steel, the lower frame is made of high-strength polymer, which then offers magazine capacities of 17+1 and 20+1. The abbreviations DS and AOS stand for "Double Stack" and "Agency Optic System", meaning it is optic-ready. Furthermore, the new 9mm Luger Springfield is equipped with ambidextrous safety, skeletonized hammer, a Picatinny rail, and a 5" or 4.25" bull barrel. It combines the best features of a classic 1911 with modern capacity, ergonomics, and modularity.
With a market presence of over 220 years, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY is the oldest and most experienced firearms manufacturer in the USA. Originally established as a state-run facility, the company has been privately owned since 1974 with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. The legendary 1911 models are the undisputed highlight in their portfolio. As a well-known provider of US brands, FERKINGHOFF INTERNATIONAL has taken over the representation of Springfield and continues to expand the range step by step.
