Expert Talks 2021 - When the lights go out

“When the Lights Go Out” is an online session in a panel of security advisors on the topic of blackout.

National and international experts have been warning for years about a total failure of the European power grid. The almost blackout in January 2021 made it clear to us how real this danger is. “If such a scenario had occurred, it would probably cause a greater societal and economic damage than we have seen with the current COVID-19 pandemic,” said Bernhard Mayerhofer, the President of VASBÖ.

We want to discuss and debate what such a total blackout would mean for Austria specifically, and what measures each individual can take in the context of this online session with the two security experts, Herbert Saurugg and Mario Krupa.
