In a recent test series conducted in the Negev Desert in southern Israel, RAFAEL demonstrated the SPIKE SR (Short Range) precision missile, showcasing its unique lethal capability.
SPIKE SR is an electro-optical guided missile designed for shoulder launch by infantry. It is the smallest and lightest variant of the SPIKE missile family, weighing only 10 kg, and is currently in use by multiple nations, including within NATO.
The entire SPIKE family is currently operational in 34 nations, with more than 33,000 rounds produced and delivered, integrated into up to 45 different platforms including combat helicopters, ground vehicles, naval vessels, and more.
SPIKE SR has been developed for maneuvering forces, enabling combat ranges of 2000 meters previously covered only by heavier ATGMs. Designed as a portable, fully deployable munition, SPIKE SR carries a powerful High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead combined with a frontal precursor for clearing Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) tiles.
During the demonstration - Here in the VIDEO - the users hit targets located 2000 meters away, demonstrating both a long range to enhance the survivability of maneuvering infantry and lethality with impressive tank penetration results.
Mr. Gal Papier, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Rafael's Directorate of Tactical Precision Weapon Systems: "We are very proud of this small missile, which has proven to be as effective as other large-caliber missiles, with great mobility for the fighter due to its light weight, as well as its ability to act quickly within six seconds of cold start, engaging fast-moving targets, which is highly demanded in modern warfare."
