KNDS showcases its vision of the future of combat tanks at EUROSATORY: which involves 140mm and unmanned turrets with autoloaders.
• KNDS is the leading manufacturer of combat tanks in Europe with the LEOPARD 2A8 and Leclerc XLR.
• KNDS is developing the LEOPARD 2 A-RC 3.0 and Leclerc Evolution to bridge the gap between current systems and MGCS.
• KNDS is preparing the EMBT ADT140 as a demonstrator for the MGCS technology. At Eurosatory, KNDS showcases the firepower and modularity of its 140mm ASCALON cannon.
LEOPARD 2 A8 and Leclerc XLR: the references in combat tanks
KNDS leverages the growing number of European LEOPARD users. The latest version of the LEOPARD 2 A8 is characterized by maximum protection, superior surveillance rate, state-of-the-art communication systems, and highest effectiveness on the battlefield. It is the successful result of collaboration with 22 user nations.
KNDS presents the Leclerc XLR. Currently, the French army is upgrading its Leclerc fleet to the XLR standard. This modernization of the Leclerc combat tank for the French army covers the immediate need for protection and communication, while the Leclerc Evolution from 2030 will cover the medium-term needs.
LEOPARD 2 A-RC 3.0 and Leclerc Evolution: modular solutions for the next decade
KNDS introduces the next steps of its MBT roadmap for the first time: the LEOPARD 2 A-RC 3.0 and the Leclerc Evolution. Both systems are in development and feature a modular turret that can be converted to different calibers. They are equipped with a modular turret that allows the armament to be converted from a 120mm to a 140mm Ascalon® cannon.
The Leclerc Evolution is equipped with a manned turret, featuring a 120mm Ascalon® cannon that can easily be upgraded to calibers up to 140mm. The Leclerc Evolution introduces a new concept with four crew members. It includes a crew station integrated into the chassis for the deputy commander, controlling an extensive sensor and effector system, such as the ARX 30 RCWS, perfect for combating UAVs, and a loitering ammunition launcher.
The Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 is a combat tank with three crew members and an unmanned, modular turret that can accommodate a 120- to 140mm main cannon and its autoloader. The turret also integrates a 30mm secondary weapon and anti-tank missiles.
The EMBT ADT 140
With the development of the Ascalon® Demonstration Tower (ADT 140), a remote-controlled tower with a 140mm Ascalon® cannon, KNDS is proactively advancing MGCS. At Eurosatory 2024, KNDS exhibits the EMBT with the ADT 140. This tower demonstrator is intended to confirm the unmatched firepower of KNDS and showcase KNDS's vision for integrating future technologies such as sensor fusion, integral hemispheric active protection, AI, cyber, and hybrid energy applications. In the field of autonomous mobility, KNDS is working on a remotely controlled combat tank chassis.
This year, KNDS will showcase the superior firepower of the 140mm Ascalon® cannon and the versatility of its technology, which can switch from a 120mm to 140mm caliber and demonstrate the ability to shoot while on the move with a remote-controlled Ascalon® 140mm turret.
