It is storming in Baden

From September 14 to September 25, 2026, the ABC Defense Regiment 750 BADEN will conduct the military exercise BADISCHER STURM. The exercise area extends over Saarbrücken, Idar-Oberstein, Darmstadt, Würzburg, Ulm, Tübingen, and Offenburg. The focal point of the exercise is Bruchsal.

In this live exercise, capabilities in the defense against nuclear, biological, and chemical threats will be trained. These capabilities include ABC defense advisory services, reconnaissance of ABC combat and hazardous materials, and decontamination following an ABC event. In this way, the ABC defense forces protect the troops in both stationary and mobile operations - whether at home or abroad.

Live exercises are an essential part of training and serve to establish and maintain operational readiness. 'Live' means that the exercise participants train in public spaces as realistically as possible, rather than on a closed military training area. The regiment leadership emphasizes: "BADISCHER STURM represents the highlight of our training this year. Our goal is to realistically and challengingly train the companies as carriers of ABC defense capability."

Therefore, an increased presence of military vehicles in public road traffic should be expected. It is explicitly pointed out that the deployed vehicles will be moving in marching groups and at reduced speed. Road users are requested to exercise special caution, maintain sufficient distance from the columns, and for safety reasons, not to drive between the vehicles.

More detailed information about the movements and deployment locations of the troops will not be published in advance for military security reasons. The Bundeswehr asks the public for understanding regarding possible restrictions.
