It is official: GR-115 - GLOCK has an AR15

... and it's a semi-automatic. Who says that? The Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) says that - and authorities don't lie. GLOCK has registered its first rifle - which had only been leaked as an applicant in a British tender, hence the image above - as a civilian semi-automatic at the BMI in Austria, which we can probably understand as an announcement that the GR-115 will soon hit the domestic market. The name of the weapon with an AR15 system - we know the system because there are patents and there is an AR15 to be seen in the British tender with GLOCK markings and the designation GR-115F - is civilian without the F and is called: GR-115. We would deconstruct this as " GLOCK Rifle Model 1 Type AR15", but this is our interpretation of the name.

Here is the excerpt from the classifications according to § 44 WaffG at the Austrian Ministry of the Interior as the weapons authority. The manufacturers have built semi-automatic rifles and had them classified. The authority has determined that they are Category B weapons. So the manufacturers are on the safe side - here alongside GLOCK, also STEYR ARMS with two civilian weapons: STM556 (available) and DMR 308 (new). Actually, the classifications for semi-automatic rifles have not been necessary since the last amendment, but GLOCK still does it, which clearly shows us that the AR15 rifle as a civilian semi-automatic GR-115 is on its way. And that also means that GLOCK, with its AR15 interpretation, wants to target both the authorities market as a assault rifle and the civilian market as a semi-automatic. We are very excited ... However, what the world is really waiting for is the proper GLOCK assault rifle. Read that right: the GLOCK assault rifle is not the GLOCK AR15 G-115F. But a proprietary development with other patents that is still in progress and confidential. This GLOCK assault rifle is expected to arrive no earlier than the end of 2023.
