Conflict Armament Research (CAR) has published a guide on how to determine the origin of an AK based on stamps. Even if one spot is worn out and nothing can be recognized, you can switch to another one for identification. Since the quality of manufacturers/origin countries can vary (for example, Romanian ones are considered more inferior, whereas Bulgarian ones are seen as very good), this is certainly useful information.
