ENFORCE TAC 2019: Let there be light - AIM

Catch the light, that's easier said than done. Especially when it's dark, small glowing helpers are extremely useful, like these ones here, lying in the palm of your hand in the size of small gum drops, glowing and called Advanced Illuminaten Marker (AIM). These little Dutchies are already being used by the British Army, but are also available elsewhere. They have an NSN number.

One of the advantages is clear at a glance. Above, a classic chemically filled glow stick, below an AIM. The latter glows for 24 hours without diminishing in brightness, it is smaller and completely different.

Diversity can be so beautiful: Red, Green, Orange, Blue, White, Yellow, and IR 850 (nm) - these are the colors in which the colorful miniatures come. The dimensions of each individual AIM plate are 20 by 15 by 5 millimeters. Weight: a delicate two grams.

When you're so small, you can't travel alone. Here's a look inside the AIM case. The pieces come in packs of ten or twenty. On the right, we see a magazine for the illuminating pieces.

No, nothing explodes when you squeeze it. This is the dispenser for the AIMS, which are always compact and at hand.

Looks a bit like the trigger of a Claymore, but it's not. However, the magazine (see case) can be inserted here. When all AIMS are out, just reload. And: the trigger also activates the AIM during deployment.

You can also manually activate them: Activation is very simple.

Touch with a metal object and it glows. Touch again and it's off. That means you can turn the illuminating bodies on and off and reuse them. These little guys are waterproof, can sink, and even work underwater. And they can glow up to -40 degrees. Some of them are also clingy: the AIM also comes with adhesive strips.
