Finally! Giraffes for Sweden

SAAB has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the Giraffe 1X radar for one of the Swedish ground-based air defense (GBAD) solutions. The contract runs from 2024 to 2027 and has an order value of around 700 million SEK.

The order includes the Saab Giraffe 1X radar, the associated command and control systems, and integration into a Swedish GBAD solution. The radar will be installed in an armored vehicle of the Sisu GTP type.

Giraffe 1X provides the commander with high-quality air defense target data, drone detection for UAS defense, and the ability to simultaneously detect and warn of rockets, artillery, and mortars.
