The Israeli company Elbit Systems announced today that it has received an additional order from Airbus Helicopters on behalf of the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) for the delivery of airborne electronic self-protection systems for the CH-53GS/GE transport helicopters. The order was placed under the platform upgrade program led by Airbus Helicopters.
With the support of Elbit Systems Germany, Elbit Systems will deliver contractually compliant digital radar warning receivers (RWR), Electronic Warfare Controllers (EWC), and countermeasure dispensing systems (CMDS). The digital RWR and EWC can quickly and accurately detect and locate a variety of threats even in a dense signal environment. This allows for reliable and timely warning, providing effective protection. The systems feature comprehensive, independent threat programming and support seamless library updates for emitters as well as recording of flight data for debriefing and pilot training. In conjunction with the CMDS, the overall system provides a high level of operational effectiveness for the air force.
