A new EOTECH

EOTECH is developing an innovative holographic sight featuring a coaxial digital overlay, as detailed in a recent patent. The design incorporates a dial for menu navigation and controls for brightness. The device is sleek, and includes ports for charging and external attachments, all while integrating essential components for simultaneous adjustments.

Once again, we have stumbled upon an exciting patent. EOTECH is working on something new. It is supposed to be a holographic sight with a coaxial digital overlay.

It looks like an EOTECH 552 with a dial on the side. According to the patent document, the dial (184) is intended to navigate the menu or control the brightness and display of the digital overlay. Lever (186) controls the brightness of the holographic reticle. However, this is not final, as it is just a patent and the buttons are only described as examples.

It looks quite stylish on the weapon. So one can expect that the device will not be unnecessarily huge, but let’s see what develops from this.

The view from above and in front. The ports on the battery (194) could be used to charge the battery or power external attachments (e.g., laser boxes).

The exciting rear view, that is towards the target. The holographic aiming point (122) is known from EOTECH. What is exciting are the exemplary overlays (126). Anything could be projected here. A USB-C port is, of course, a must these days.

This part (FIG.17 and 18) is supposed to make all this possible. It contains the prism for the holographic aiming point, and below it (164) the projector for the digital overlay. What is truly new about it is that everything is built into one part and can be zeroed simultaneously.

Here in the cross-section of the device, the individual beam paths are also noted. While the holographic reticle appears quite direct, the digital overlay is diverted four times before it reaches the eye. Overall, a very exciting patent and we are already curious about what will come our way in the coming years.
