EDELWEISS ADVENTURE: Cognitive and Coordination Pistol

09/30/2022By Redaktion

If you are looking for training with a difference, EDELWEISS is the right place for you. Training the mind, completing tasks away from shooting also needs to be trained. For this purpose, cognitive and coordination shooting training is quite suitable.

Felix was our shooting instructor for the evening and was excited to give us some exciting tasks. The exercises in the shooting training itself vary from time to time and are also adapted to the participants' skills.

This time it all turned out to be like a kind of circuit training. At five different stations, you could train, take a short break after a predetermined time limit, and then move on to the next station.

Station 1

Quite noticeable and eye-catching, the rope ladder on the ground. With your feet, make lateral steps and then shoot. It is important to ideally keep the target in sight and remember to aim before speed! As you get closer to the target, you can shoot faster. If you are further away again, you may have to work more accurately.

Station 2

Felix demonstrates skillfully with a training weapon that cannot load live ammunition and is color-coded, you stand on the balance board. Now keep getting into position and dry-fire. The target is marked on the wall. No worries, those who have grown up with skateboards or similar and have no problem maintaining balance will be delighted with the trainer's impulses.

Shooting on the balance board was also a station at this year's Summer Competition.

Station 3

In this station, you had to run back and forth between pylons to raise your pulse. At each pylon, then take 3-5 shots, preferably on different target zones. Depending on motivation, the pace and pulse increased, as well as ammunition consumption.

Here was our pulse, but we were already on break and had returned to the table. Overall, a very good exercise to prepare for popular 2 Gun Action Challenge matches like Lynx Brutality and similar. In these competitions, you shoot constantly with high pulse and under physical strain, which can give some a taste of it here.

Station 4

Eye-hand coordination was decisive at this station. You had to throw two hacky sack balls straight up with your hands and catch them crossed over. A complete hate station for us, because throughout the whole evening, we never managed to do it without the balls falling to the ground or on the table. This failure led to training at home with two pairs of socks for the next few days until we can reliably catch them now.

Station 5

On the wall, a sheet of paper was mounted. Here, you had to stand close to it and follow a star pattern with your eyes.

Sounds simple at first, but this is a successful break for the rest of the body, although the eyes are being trained. In addition, one had to consciously pay attention to the speed of the eyes.

As mentioned initially, there was always a short break when switching to the next station, which had to be taken advantage of. If shooting sharply, it means reloading. If no shots were fired, it was advisable to drink water.

We really enjoyed the training. Felix played music during the drills for a good atmosphere, encouraged where needed, and increased the difficulty when he noticed it was becoming too easy for some. A comprehensive training where one quickly becomes aware of possible training deficits.
