09/08/2023By Redaktion

From September 12 to 15, 2023, DSEI 2023 will take place in London. Under the motto Move - Sense - Strike, Rheinmetall will present a part of its extensive products, systems, and activities for the digitized battlefields of the future at the major defense technology trade fair in the UK. At this year's edition, Rheinmetall will showcase:

Boxer MIV:

Rheinmetall and the joint venture Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land will provide information on the current status of their participation in the Mechanized Infantry Vehicle Project of the British Army. Furthermore, at the Rheinmetall booth, the Boxer in the Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) variant will be on display. In addition, a mission module with the Skyranger air defense system is exhibited. The Boxer in the Command Vehicle (C2) configuration is also present at the British Army stand. This version was developed in the UK.

Challenger 3 Upgrade Programme:

Rheinmetall successfully completed firing tests with the 120mm smoothbore gun L55A1 on the upgraded main battle tank Challenger 3 in the spring. Rheinmetall and RBSL will provide updates on this and other news in London.

Airborne Vehicle Platform Caracal:

Together with Mercedes-Benz and ACS Armoured Car Systems, Rheinmetall offers the versatile and highly mobile 4x4 vehicle family Caracal for light forces such as airborne or special forces units. The Caracal has been selected by the armed forces of Germany and the Netherlands as a new airborne vehicle family - one of the largest procurement projects of its kind.

Lynx KF41:

Rheinmetall's next generation infantry fighting vehicle features the MK30-2 / ABM main weapon and the Main Sensor Slaved Armament (MSSA) weapon station. In October 2022, Rheinmetall delivered the first of a total of 209 Lynx infantry fighting vehicles to the Hungarian armed forces. Also in August 2023, the U.S. Army awarded American Rheinmetall as part of an industry team - "Team Lynx" - with Phases 3 and 4 of the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program. At the same time, the project is now running under the name XM30 Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle program.

Area Defense Weapon:

Rheinmetall is currently developing a new top- attack area defense weapon to increase blocking capability. This concept will be presented for the first time at DSEI.

Ragnarök 120mm Mortar Weapon Station:

Ragnarök is a versatile 120mm mortar system that can be integrated into wheeled and tracked vehicles. At DSEI 2023, a trailer-mounted version will be on display.

Unmanned Systems and Robotics:

For the first time in the United Kingdom, Rheinmetall will present the unmanned aerial vehicle LUNA NG (Next Generation) as the latest development for unmanned, air-based reconnaissance, classification, and real-time object recognition. Furthermore, Rheinmetall will introduce the LUNA NG in the version as Rheinmetall Combat Drone, as well as the VTOL kit, which allows the drone to take off and land vertically. The reconnaissance drone LUNA NG will be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces by the end of the year and is intended as the new tactical reconnaissance system HUSAR for the German Bundeswehr.

Rheinmetall will also demonstrate how various integrated unmanned air-based reconnaissance systems can enhance the sensors of vehicle platforms and improve situational awareness. Mission Master SP, configured as a carrier for the wireless charging technology for unmanned systems developed in collaboration with Quaze Technologies, will be shown at DSEI. The larger Mission Master XT will be presented in a version for drone defense. Mission pods for combat vehicles for the use of small UAVs for reconnaissance and effect are also included in the portfolio. The product range of the group also includes mission pods for the use of small UAVs from combat vehicles for reconnaissance and target engagement missions. Also presented will be the Joint Fire Surveillance Reconnaissance (JFSR) system VINGTAQS II. It is shown on a Boxer mission module.

Loitering Munition:

Airborne precision loitering ammunition combines the characteristics of drones and guided missiles. It enhances the reconnaissance capability of even small units above the target area as well as the long-range and precise engagement of targets. Rheinmetall and its partner UVision have agreed to cooperate to market UVision's Hero family of loitering ammunition in Europe. Both companies will showcase different Hero LM systems at DSEI.

HX Vehicle Family:

Rheinmetall's HX vehicle family is characterized by outstanding mobility, versatility, and a high level of optional protection. This allows for a flexible range of applications. At DSEI 2023, an HX 8x8 with Automated Load Handling System (ALHS) is on display. The truck's Flatrack carries the 35mm Revolver Gun MK3 anti-aircraft cannon.
Anti-aircraft: Highly mobile, modular, and scalable ground-based anti-aircraft systems are gaining importance with NATO forces focusing more on national and alliance defense. In addition to the 35mm Revolver Gun Mk3, Rheinmetall is presenting a Boxer mission module for an anti-aircraft wheeled tank 8x8 Boxer with the Skyranger 35 tower at DSEI.
Protection: Rheinmetall's comprehensive expertise in protection technologies ranges from individual passive ballistic solutions to highly advanced active protection systems. At DSEI 2023, Rheinmetall presents its comprehensive approach to protection concepts, including the StrikeShield module. This is an integrable hybrid module for vehicles that combines active and passive protection technology.

Digitized Battlefield:

As a leading system integrator, Rheinmetall has all the capabilities to network the different entities on the digitized battlefield of the future. Rheinmetall demonstrates how to lift the "fog of war" at DSEI 2023 through the interaction of sensors, effectors, and modern man-machine interfaces. Rheinmetall also presents the current configurations of the Gladius 2.0 soldier system and its connection with manned and unmanned vehicles and subsystems.
