In London, there is a new German machine gun: The HK421 runs on 7.62 NATO with belt feed. The weapon is based on the MG5 and features a hydraulic buffer that allows for the use of different stocks like this collapsible MP7 stock (above). It has also been seen with an HK416A8 stock (below) directly at the DSEI 2023.
Two versions are known: HK421 is offered with 13" (8.3 kg) and 16.5" (8.5 kg) barrel options and features a 3-position gas block for normal operation, full automatic, and suppressed fire. It can also be set to full automatic in any loaded condition. Under the handguard module lies a Picantinny rail for accessories.
Heckler & Koch has shared an image of the HK421 on social media showing the FDE version. They also advertise a Sniper Grey version. Exciting information is also that the weapon is supposed to be compatible with FN weapon stations. More current images directly at SOLDIER SYSTEMS.
