DroneShield now has a DroneLocator

07/06/2023By Redaktion

The introduction of Remote ID legislation worldwide has led drone manufacturers to develop their own approaches to remote identification. Remote identification is used to transmit important information about the aircraft, location data, flight information, and pilot data. This technology is becoming increasingly important for managing low-altitude airspace.

DroneShield devices are now able to detect a variety of remote ID signals through the company's proprietary DroneLocator technology. These improvements apply to the company's portable, vehicle/ship, and location-bound products. Specifically, DroneLocator can display DJI remote ID signals that were previously only available through the DJI AeroScope product.

DroneLocator can display key information such as:

  • Drone location (latitude, longitude, and altitude)
  • Pilot location (latitude and longitude)
  • Drone home location (longitude and latitude)
  • Drone serial number (unique identifier)
  • Drone speed

In addition to DroneLocator, registered devices receive quarterly updates for the proprietary DroneShield RFAI Artificial Intelligence Engine. While DroneLocator provides a solution for detecting and tracking compliant and legal aircraft, the DroneShield RFAI technology continues to provide a solution for illegal, unregistered, and hostile drones.

DroneShield RFAI and DroneLocator can run simultaneously on a single DroneShield device, with DroneShield products performing AI processing at the edge. RFAI and DroneLocator can operate in a fully encapsulated configuration (without internet connection).

The DroneLocator technology significantly expands the applications of DroneShield products, including extending capabilities for C-UAS, Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM), Low Altitude Airspace Monitoring, Drone Security, and Drone Fleet Management.

Moreover, this major update includes:

  • Improved performance in noisy environments: Significant improvements to detection algorithms, including advanced neural convolutional networks, enhance detection performance in complex, cluttered, and noisy environments.
  • Embedded device maps available: DroneSentry-X devices can now load and display a map to increase situational awareness.
  • Enhanced graphical user interface: Device detection and logging information can now be expanded to provide additional content to end users.
