Drones over Nuremberg

01/09/2017By Redaktion

When on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2017, the new event U.T.SEC - Unmanned Technologies & Security will kick off in Hall 12 of the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, the trade fair will be complemented by a diverse conference program. An initial look at the presentation topics now reveals how varied the future applications of unmanned systems or "drones" will be.
So-called UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) or UAS (Unmanned Autonomous Systems) will change our lives in the coming years. While drones were initially used primarily in the military and hobby areas, it is becoming increasingly clear where these systems can be used to enhance security and protect human lives. At the same time, legal and technical questions arise regarding protection against unauthorized and potentially dangerous use of drones.

For the conference program in early March, the first expert lectures have now been confirmed. Mario Finkenbeiner from Deutsche Bahn Sicherheit GmbH will provide information on the "Use of multicopters for security purposes of the DB AG," and Dr. Dennis Göbel from Agaplesion Frankfurter Diakonie-Kliniken will showcase the possibilities of "Drones in medical technology" using examples from their own institution. In addition, Christian Janke, representing the European Aviation Security Center / Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, will speak on "Cyber Security in Unmanned Aviation," and Karsten Schudt from 3W International will highlight the "Advantages of using HF engines in disaster areas." Dr. Andreas Hausotter from esc Aerospace GmbH will explore the "Applications and limits of autonomously flying drones for securing critical infrastructures," and Fraunhofer IOSB will present a project on situation-aware defense against threats posed by UAS. Lawyer Dr. Ulrich Dieckert will approach the topic of "Drones: Risks and their legal defense" from a legal perspective in his lecture. Further topics will be announced in the coming weeks. The official partners of the trade fair and conference are UAV DACH e.V. and the VfS - Association for Security Technology.

Trade fair triad for professionals

The focus of U.T.SEC 2017 is on the technical possibilities to increase security, as well as to protect against the unwanted use of unmanned systems in the civil, industrial, and governmental sectors. The range of offerings includes unmanned systems, communication, data transmission, positioning, IT, perimeter protection, electronic fencing, optics, optronics, lighting, and UAV defense.

Due to overlapping target groups such as police or forestry, the new event will run parallel to two other important trade fairs at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. The first is Enforce Tac, the International Trade Fair for Command, Control and Operational Equipment for Security Services, on March 1st and 2nd, 2017, and the second is the immediately following IWA OutdoorClassics from March 3rd to 6th, 2017, the leading international trade fair for hunting, shooting sports, and outdoor equipment. Trade fair visitors from both events can visit the new U.T.SEC free of charge with their admission tickets.
