Firearms

This Frenchman is a MAWL Man

01/08/2018By Redaktion

The French special forces unit GIGN is known for taking their own unique paths. This includes introducing the Bren assault rifle shown above in Paris – and in a potent caliber, 7.62 x 39 – classic Kalashnikov. A small sacrilege in the West, but firepower counts. As the first known European special forces unit, GIGN has now chosen the MAWL-DA from B.E. Meyers as a laser targeting aid, also visible above mounted on the rail in front. The MAWL-DA stands out for its interesting mounting method that places the laser target aid at a 45-degree angle. But it's the internal components that matter: the MAWL-DA provides infrared and visible green laser and weapon light. It utilizes VCSEL technology, which is said to generate a particularly consistent laser beam that has impressed the French.
