The improved Finnish AK is here

The Finns have completed modernizing the Valmet RK 62 assault rifle in 2015, releasing three new variants of the RK 62 M with 7.62 x 39 mm caliber. The M1 variant includes Magpul stock, redesigned fire selector, optics mounting, and more. The M2 and M3 variants have similar upgrades, with M3 in olive green. The Finns started modernizing their assault rifle Valmet RK 62 in 2015. Now they are finished, and there are three variants of the new RK 62 M. The caliber choice remains at 7.62 x 39 mm, which is the AK 47 caliber.

The M1 variant (pictured) offers the following innovations:

  • Magpul stock
  • Redesigned fire selector
  • Mounting option for optics
  • Adapter for light and laser modules
  • Improved sling

The M2 variant -seen in the featured image- and M3 variant have received the same upgrades, with the M3 variant being in olive green. The improvements at a glance:

  • New forend with modular mounting rails
  • Redesigned muzzle brake with quick attachment for a suppressor or muzzle device from Ase Utra
