The US Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program is set to provide troops with the XM7 assault rifle and XM250 machine gun. The US Army plans to issue a new rifle along with new ammunition as standard equipment to the Close Combat Force, the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) XM7 assault rifle and XM250 machine gun. Both of which are already being tested with some units, but everything is not so rosy apparently.

The first complaint is the weight of the rifle system, and there seem to be a few other teething problems to iron out as well. However, the negative critiques appear to go much deeper than that.
