IDEB 2026:

The new Slovak uniform

Defense fairs in the East blend exhibitions with a folk festival atmosphere, as seen at IDEB 2026 in Bratislava. The Slovak army is modernizing its uniforms, transitioning from pixelated patterns to styles resembling British DPM. New combat suits and field uniforms are introduced alongside upgraded weaponry, including the AR15.

Defense fairs in the East are entertaining because they are more than just exhibitions. This is evident from the attendance of civilians with children and a tendency towards a folk festival character. Moreover, it is used there for the army to present itself. This was also the case at the IDEB 2026, which took place last week in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The modernization of the army is also on the agenda: it starts with the appearance. The Slovak army is currently pretty pixelated, but starting this year, it will change its uniform.

This is the fabric from which Slovak dreams are made. The color scheme doesn’t really change, but the pattern resembles the British DPM, called VZOR 25 or VZ25. The fabric is allegedly produced in Croatia, while the uniforms are sewn in the country.

Comparison of the uniforms: on the left is the disappearing pixel camouflage VZ07, on the right is the future of the Slovak army.

There are likely two basic sets, one being a type of combat suit with known Western style elements, including a Combat Shirt and Combat Pants with elements like Crye.

And a field uniform featuring a field blouse and very pocket-friendly pants in a modern design. The uniform is one thing; the weapons are another: Yes, the Slovak army is also changing here, as can be clearly seen in the leading image. Another country is adopting the AR15; we will introduce the weapons to you tomorrow.
