The new Commando Uniform of the Royal Marines

07/01/2020By Redaktion

The Royal Navy's elite commandos, the Royal Marines Commandos, are being reorganized on a large scale. The unit was founded in World War II and is being realigned and equipped as part of the Future Commando Force program. One step of this modernization is a new uniform with everything that goes with it.

Here all the changes are shown. They rely on proven equipment and do not try to reinvent the wheel: the combat suit comes from Crye Precision and is the G4 Combat Uniform - HERE in our SPARTANAT Review. Particularly pleasing: for the utility belt, they chose TMH Trading from Wels, Austria. The British also place great importance on the badges, where a lot has changed.

The new insignia patch for the Royal Marines Commando is inspired by the insignia from World War II, with red text on a navy blue background. Back to the roots.

The underlying insignia of the 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines now features the original design of the Fairbairn-Sykes dagger, designed in 1940. The para-wings are in black with a green background, no longer white. This surely benefits the camouflage.

Also new is the flag insignia, showing the flag of the British Royal Navy and making it clear that the Marines are part of the Royal Navy. This is the first time since the founding of the Royal Marines in 1664 that this flag has been worn as a uniform badge.

The new Royal Marine Commandos in all their glory, ready for action. With Ops-Core with PVS 15 on the head, Crye Precision on the body, and Mechanix on the hands. Nothing unexpected so far. We are not entirely sure about the plate carrier model, but it's only a matter of time until we see more details. HERE is the information page about the new Commando Uniform of the Royal Marines.
