Four eyes see more in the night than two. And with night vision devices, it's the same strange thing, only it's about tubes: the GPNVG-18, the Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggle from L3 HARRIS, you can tell at first glance by the four tubes. Naturally used by Tier 1 units internationally, it is supplied in Germany by IEA MIL-OPTICS, which provide it to the KSK. The German version of the GPNVG was seen at the 9th KSK Armament Symposium.
This is what the GPNVG looks like when flipped up. As in real life, it also depends on the inner values here: The new L3 GPNVG is the world's only night vision goggle with a 97° field of view. This closely approximates the natural human field of view of approximately 120°. Compared to conventional night vision goggles with a 40-50° field of view, the side head movement is reduced. This results in significant advantages in combat, especially in confined spaces. The GPNVG can be supplied with black/white or unfilmed 3rd generation tubes.
The German devices have a different mounting system than the international ones. US special forces use Dovetails, while the Germans have chosen a more stable solution. However, the Rhino, the night vision mount for the helmet, is also from WILCOX, an GSGM.
Here is the complete Rhino folded down again. Mounting with folding function to connect the night vision or thermal imaging device to a VAS Shroud on a head mount or helmet. Wilcox is a leader in mounting solutions and has a lot of expertise. The L4 G24 features a break-away function to protect the night vision device in case of falls or obstacles.
