The ammunition from True Velocity has been selected by the U.S. Army for their Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program. The NGSW is intended to replace the M4 and M249. The new ammunition is in caliber 6.8mm and uses its own composite mix for the casing. With the new casings, a weight reduction of around 30 percent is achieved. The casings also do not remain hot after firing. In general, less heat is produced when firing the ammunition, which is intended to increase the longevity of the barrel and weapon. The fired casings are also 100 percent recyclable. Lastly, these casings can be manufactured in many different colors. If you would like to learn more about the ammunition, you can find more information HERE. The press release can be found HERE
