SAAB secures £60m contract with UK MoD for ILT-D Live Simulation systems, replacing DFWES. High-fidelity technology uses laser and geometric pairing for realistic training feedback at various military training sites.
SAAB has signed a first three-year contract worth £60 million with extension options until 2030 with the British Ministry of Defence to support Live Simulation systems with ILT-D (Instrumented Live Training).
The ILT-D contract replaces the previous DFWES contract (Direct Fire Weapon Effect Simulator). ILT-D supports high-fidelity systems that use a combination of laser and geometric pairing technology to simulate direct and indirect fire effects. This data-intensive capability provides objective feedback used for the After Action Review (AAR) process and training validation.

Support will continue at permanent joint training sites in the UK and Germany, as well as at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick, the Infantry Battle School in Brecon, and the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre.
