KAISER Aluminium Forging Technology is a key supplier of forged aluminum receivers for European AR-15 and AR-10 systems. Their process involves forging raw parts, followed by milling and optional surface treatments. The receivers can be received as raw, milled without treatment, or milled with surface treatment.
KAISER Aluminium Forging Technology might not mean much to anyone, but the likelihood is very, very high that if you have a European AR-15 or AR-10 system, the receiver comes from KAISER. They supply almost all the major manufacturers in Europe with their forged aluminum receivers.

Here you can see the typical process of a lower receiver for an AR-15. First, the raw forged part. All holes and threads are then milled into it. In the end, it is either hard-anodized or coated - commonly referred to as "painted." Forged housings have significantly better durability than those that are simply milled from a single piece of aluminum.
