BUNDESWEHR:

Germany will become unified again

08/04/2025By Max

Is there anything more beautiful in the eyes of a Sergeant Major than everyone wearing the same camouflage pattern? We don't know, but someone at BUNDESWEHR HQ seems to think that way. Starting in 2026, there will no longer be any special treatment regarding camouflage for special forces, and therefore Multitarn will be issued to all members of the German armed forces. The good stuff is supposed to be issued starting in 2028, our friends at Hartpunkt report.

Yes, you read that right, the special Multitarn print pattern will no longer be so special because everyone will have it. This comes from the fact that many European armies are no longer relying on specialized patterns that only work well in a specific environment. Rather, the trend now is to standardize on the "least bad camouflage pattern in as many operational environments as possible." This was described in a study conducted a few years ago by the Military Science Institute for Material and Operating Resources (WIWeB).

We suspect that the real reason is to better conceal the presence of their special forces, as they will no longer stand out due to their separate camouflage pattern. And we already know that American surplus dealers are concerned about whether the original 5-color spotty camouflage fabric will end up in their hands – or if the Germans will destroy it.

The next question is what will happen to the new equipment: the MOBAST and KBS SK deliveries in 5FT are not even finished yet. And the troops already lack storage space for all the material. The amount of equipment per person exceeds all the space available in the barracks. And companies do not have the storage space to keep items that are not immediately needed. So the troops are slowly starting to ask themselves: Where is all the new stuff going to go? And what will happen to the “old” stuff, which is actually new?
