The Sicherheitsschirm provides protection, not just from rain or sunlight, but also from attackers. How that works, we explain in our review.

In the image, two seemingly ordinary umbrellas, but in the details, they are very special. The shorter one with 78 cm is the City-Safe Umbrella. The longer one with 92 cm is the Standard Sicherheitsschirm.

When opened, they have a diameter of 96 cm and 112 cm respectively. The Standard umbrella is also suitable for two people.

In the rain, both sizes have performed very well. Thus, the core competency of an umbrella is fulfilled. Water beads off the umbrella fabric beautifully, as it is particularly water-repellent.

Details

What makes the Sicherheitsschirm particularly suitable for self-defense? Its inner values. The umbrella shaft is made from a 14mm high-performance carbon material.

It can easily withstand the weight of a person. On the Sicherheitsschirm's homepage, there are also videos showing how the umbrella withstands a car without damage.

Not only is the umbrella shaft stable, but the mechanics and ribs made of fiberglass also ensure good durability.

The umbrella tip made of twisted stainless steel is not only stylish but also very stable. However, we have always used the umbrellas with the rubber cap on top because this allows for better leaning. The Standard umbrella can also be used very well as a walking stick with the cap.

The solid wooden knob feels very pleasant and fits well into the concept of durability. You can choose between different colors and also whether you prefer a classic round hook.

All Sicherheitsschirme are automatic umbrellas, so just press the button and everything unfolds.

New Umbrella Cover

There is a new umbrella cover for the Sicherheitsschirm that has recently been released. In this cover, the umbrella disappears completely.

Thanks to the carabiner and D-ring, the cover can be secured together.

This allows the Sicherheitsschirm to be carried across the shoulder like a quiver. Other carrying options are, of course, also possible.

Self-Defense

The core competency of this umbrella is self-defense, specifically keeping an attacker at a distance. There are several ways to achieve this. When purchasing a Sicherheitsschirm, you also gain access to a total of two hours of video course with this content:

• Recognizing dangerous situations early
• Avoiding conflicts and creating distance
• Using the Sicherheitsschirm correctly
• Safely extricating yourself from critical situations

So everything you need to know as a layperson. We found the course to be very enjoyable and sensible. In the future, we plan to test the umbrella in Kobudo and/or other martial arts.

Conclusion

Visually very appealing and also super stable, that's the Sicherheitsschirm. We like the Gray Man mentality behind this product as well as the overall implementation. Whether in the rain or in the current heatwave as a shade provider, the Sicherheitsschirm looks very good. Fortunately, we have not yet needed to use it for self-defense, but we are confident that we would have a good chance with the umbrella.
