The WNDSN Telemeters consist of graphical distance and altitude calculators in wallet size, designed to provide specialists in the field and soldiers on the front line with accurate and reliable measuring instruments. In certain conditions or cases where laser rangefinders are not available or lead to errors, WNDSN Telemeters take precedence and can be used as the primary or secondary option to verify values obtained by other means. The latest iteration of the WNDSN NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter applies improvements first introduced in its civilian counterpart, the WNDSN High-Viz Quadrant Telemeter, resulting in increased accuracy and usability in the field.
The latest refinements in the WNDSN NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter include a 150 MIL scale graduated in 1 MIL increments, using the newly introduced extended block scales. In response to user feedback, this newly developed sighting scale employs blocks instead of lines as scale markings, filling in every other pair of lines with color. This improved scale design allows WNDSN for the first time to graduate the MIL scale in 1 MIL increments, whereas in previous NATO-MIL models the accuracy was only 2 MIL. Increased precision has also been enabled by reducing the distance between eye and scale to 50 cm, facilitating setup in the field and enhancing visual acuity.
Other changes include the removal of civilian elements used there for experimental and astronomical purposes (shadow square and Earth incline arc) and adding a MIL scale, graduated in 25 and 100 MIL, within the degree arc.
Accuracy and speed of measurement under adverse conditions are taken into account, with a dot grid added in the quadrant allowing for more precise cord operations. For maps at a scale of 1:25k, a new plotting aid is provided to determine a position on a UTM grid using Northing and Easting values.
New for 2022 is the possibility to book online courses in German or English for small groups, units, or individuals, tailored to the participants' prior knowledge and background.
The material of the NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter is the same acrylic sandwich used in the High-Viz Quadrant Telemeter, consisting of a white core and white scale markings with a black matte surface. This black, matte surface reduces glare and supports position protection. To maintain good visibility and durability of the scales, the markings are laser engraved and precisely cut through the 0.1mm thick black acrylic, revealing the underlying white acrylic to ensure that the scales are practically indestructible.
Training is a key focus with all WNDSN instruments. Included with the WNDSN NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter is a printed 32-page mini booklet in English and German specifically developed for the NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter. For better mastery of the instruments, a comprehensive 170-page NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter Instructor's and User Manual is included as a digital supplement and separately available in printed form. The cover is incidentally kept in RAL 7013, very chic. The 170-page field manual, available in both print and digital forms, is based on the latest GQT5 and optimized for practical field use, with sections on astronomy, history, and graphical mathematics removed from the civilian manual. The 170-page field manual is included as a PDF with the purchase of a WNDSN NATO-MIL Quadrant Telemeter and is also available as a paperback through outlets like Amazon and can be obtained through local bookstores as well.
The WNDSN NATO-MIL Quadrant-Telemeter is available directly from WNDSN starting at 37.50 Euro.
