The new JEEP Wrangler as AADS J8 for Europe

08/19/2021By Redaktion

IEA Mil-Optics takes over the German MIL/LE sector for the AADS J8 (modified Jeep Wrangler on JL platform) from 2021 in collaboration with AADS.

The company AADS, based in Gibraltar (ES), has been responsible for the vehicle conversions for years, as well as the global distributor of the AADS J8. In order to meet the increasing interest here as well, IEA MIL-OPTICS GmbH will now take over the MIL/LE sector for Germany.

"We are very excited for a successful cooperation with the companies AADS! The cooperation offers great potential for the future for all involved. With our years of expertise in procurement for German state and federal authorities, as well as extensive knowledge in the vehicle sector, we offer an excellent foundation for the new AADS J8 in Germany," says Alexander Engelhardt, Managing Director of IEA MIL-OPTICS GmbH.

The JEEP, the basis of the AADS J8, is the epitome of an off-road vehicle. For 80 years, the vehicle has enjoyed unprecedented demand. Currently, around 1,000 Jeep Wranglers are produced per day! The AADS J8 comes standard with everything a modern operational vehicle must have. ABS, ESP, electronic traction control, tire pressure monitoring, rearview camera, air conditioning, central locking, cruise control, hill descent and hill start assist, and more.

One platform - yet versatile:

The AADS J8 is the modified governmental version of the civilian JEEP Wrangler and provides a solid base for a diverse vehicle family due to its various body and equipment variants. A true off-road vehicle that is unique in its form.

The AADS J8 is available as a 2-door or 4-door, soft top, plastic, or steel hard top. Other versions include an open Light Patrol Vehicle with a special cage and a double-cabin pickup variant that can accommodate 5 people along with a 1.6 m long loading area.

In an extended version by 550 mm, the J8 Extended Command offers space for various technical installations, cargo, or up to 11 people. Roof hatches, swivel rings, or optical sensors can be integrated into the hardtop as needed.

Winch, differential locks, special cage with swivel ring mount, Beadlock wheels, etc. are available on request. Whether as standard for command and control tasks or for special units with increased payload, more ground clearance, and reinforced suspension - everything is possible!

State-of-the-art technology:

For the drive, they rely on proven civilian engines, which can be adapted as needed - e.g. conversion to Euro 3 or Euro 5. This involves the use of mature mass production technology that can be easily and efficiently maintained by any Jeep dealer worldwide. In addition to the proven V6 diesel with 260 PS and 650 Nm torque, a 2L turbo gasoline engine and a plug-in hybrid are available.

All vehicles are equipped with a modern ZF 8-speed automatic transmission as well as the Command Trac all-wheel-drive system.

Proven:

The JEEP/J8 has been serving as a reliable, safe, and economical military vehicle worldwide for 80 years.

In addition to the US Department of Defense and the GSA (US General Services Administration), the AADS J8 in its latest form is running in over 20 countries worldwide - with a rising trend.

Recently, the Italian armed forces became the newest customer. They have procured several hundred AADS J8 in the Light Patrol variant. In addition to the military, police forces, mines, fire departments, and emergency services use the AADS J8. This is not surprising, as it is one of the few remaining true off-road vehicles.
