The Merkava deal with Cyprus and Morocco

Israel will not be delivering Merkava tanks to Ukraine, as part of an agreement to send them to Cyprus and Morocco instead. This decision frees up Eastern material for Ukraine's armed forces.

Merkava for Ukraine? Just a few days ago - we reported on it - it seemed like an interesting prospect. Now, the agreement on the export of Israeli Merkava-2/3 tanks has been announced: part of the deliveries will go to Cyprus to replace the 41 T-80U/UK tanks that were handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces, and part to Morocco to compensate for the delivery of T-72B tanks. None of the Merkava tanks will be delivered to Ukraine. That is one of Israel's conditions. At the same time, the deliveries free up Eastern material that is available to Ukraine.
