SESTAN-BUSCH from Croatia introduced innovative 3D-printed ceramic armor for helmets at IDEB 2026, enhancing head protection beyond traditional steel designs used in World War I. This additional armor allows for quick transformations of BUMP helmets into ballistic helmets, offering vital protection that can save lives.
“Facing the enemy head-on” is a saying. Somehow you know that you have to go straight in, and that's when it leads to a collision. And the forehead takes the hit. Now, a helmet protects the head. But sometimes more is needed, an additional armor. SESTAN-BUSCH from Croatia has shown a solution at IDEB 2026.

What we see here is not a revolution per se. Additional armor for helmets was introduced during World War I to better protect an exposed wearer. But back then it was steel, and here it is ceramic – and this piece is 3D printed.

Protection that can save lives. From a 3D printer. We are excited to see complete helmets from the printer. The option with the additional plates allows a BUMP helmet to be quickly transformed into a ballistic helmet.
