Staff Sgt. David G. Bellavia, an Iraq veteran, is set to receive the Medal of Honor on June 25, 2019 for his heroic actions in Fallujah. He will be the first living Iraq veteran to receive this honor, making his story even more remarkable. Learn more about his incredible journey on the U.S. Army website.
It's official - Staff Sgt. David G. Bellavia will be awarded the Medal of Honor on June 25, 2019, and the special thing about it is that he is still alive. Bellavia was a Squad Leader in support of Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah, Iraq. Their mission on the night of November 10, 2004, was to clear 12 buildings where six or more insurgents were suspected. Of course, things turned out very differently and the events read like something out of an action movie.
He had already received a Silver Star for his actions. After a reevaluation, it is now being upgraded and he will thus be the first living Iraq veteran to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
We have linked his story in the cover image for you. Additionally, his story and more information can be read HERE.
