Last week, the ISB Championship IDPS took place at Edelweiss Adventures. Close to 180 participants answered the call and spread out over three days to face the various tasks at the different stations.
A must for everyone were the two official stations located on Level 1 of the IDPS. Shooting was done once sitting and once kneeling from 10 meters. According to the results, the vast majority mastered this station with flying colors.
Once this was done, more stations awaited the participants. While these did not count towards the final score, they offered a lot of fun and surprises. In the "old" hall, participants were greeted warmly and could read the rules for the station. In this station, the tunnel vision was tested in a sharp shot to see how pronounced it still was among the participants.
Next to this station, two Glock 44 pistols with suppressors were already waiting. In caliber .22LR, participants engaged in a small "duel" with another participant. The goal was to hit four small metal plates and then seal the deal with a swinging plate. The mantra was "accuracy before speed," and it was exciting to shoot a suppressed Glock for the first time. This definitely creates some addiction.
In the adjacent building, the old sports hall awaited. Here, a station focused on self-defense skills. A real scenario was staged to help participants understand how to handle a possible attacker. Afterwards, the reactions of individual participants in a group were discussed and clarified. What was good, where improvements were needed, and which modules could be used for further training were all discussed. Even though it was brief, this station really got people thinking about whether they were adequately prepared.
Back at the main building: on the upper floor was the final station. Each shooter entered the room alone and was equipped. With Airsoft Glock pistols from Umarex and necessary protective gear, participants had to tackle a station that tested perception and reaction capabilities.
Without revealing too much, the scenarios in the rooms often changed, and participants were constantly surprised. For many, this was their first contact with Airsoft, leading to some "aha" moments. Edelweiss also tested how Airsoft could be used as a training tool. The station was supervised by the Red Scorpions Airsoft Team.
Also present was the International Shooting Federation (ISB), which takes care of new and old members and issues participation confirmations. Highly recommended for sports shooters and those who want to become one, as necessary confirmations and certificates can be obtained through the ISB. The ISB also advocates against any further tightening of gun laws and for legal gun ownership.
We would like to thank the entire Edelweiss team for these entertaining days and look forward to the next competition!
